Senior Health Economist, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

Dongwoo has been mainly working in the field of national health insurance policy for expanding coverage to be more people-centered, streamlining the process of listing/pricing of newly developed, innovative healthcare technology (IHT) and reforming the payment system to be more value-based.

However, when an infectious disease outbreak hit his country, he has been in the frontline of the battlefields for field epidemic investigation and response strategy planning to secure the nation’s people, based on his clinical and public health background, including Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak in 2015 and COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 in the Korean government.

Dongwoo got a Medical Doctor degree from Yonsei University in Seoul and completed his residency as a Neurologist at Yonsei University Medical Center in Seoul. He earned a Master of Public Health degree at Seoul National University. He has a brief experience as a visiting researcher at the School of Law (US Medical Law) in the University of California Davis, United States.
